    BCF Paligsayahan 2017 held

The theme of this year’s biggest sports festival – BCF Paligsayahan 2017 –says it all.

“Discipline is hard,” claimed Pastor Mandy Antonis in his short pep talk during the BCF Paligsayahan 2017 held Sept. 2 at Al Rajah School Auditorium.

Drawing his inspiration from Hebrews 12:7-9, Pastor Mandy encouraged all players, staff, and spectators of the event to endure hardship as discipline from our heavenly Father.

“If we truly love and value our relationship with Him,” the Sunday Church Based (SCB) pastor added, “we will endure and continue to walk in faith accomplishing the tasks that He set out for us to do.”

Meanwhile, Aqua Blue Team won the championship with 815 points. Trailing second was the Maroon Team who garnered 680 points, followed by the Lavender Team that lagged behind by only 15 points. The Tangerine Team ranked fourth with 515 points.

Karl Maglalang of SCB, despite the accident that sprained his ankle, retained his title as the most valuable player or MVP for basketball. It must be noted that he carried the same title during the Paligsayahan 2016.

Fatima Karim was awarded the MVP for volleyball.

The whole-day family event was fraught with fun, food, and fellowship.

The traditional torch run led by Senior Pastor Freddie Cudiamat opened the event with the singing of the national anthem and the parade of the teams.

DonahLeynes, the event’s emcee, led everyone into a very energizing warm up routine in preparation for the games. The first to try out the games, the kids outmatched each other in a fun race, with the Aqua Blue Team leading the pack. Following closely behind was the Maroon team. The teams then showed their creative side by performing their cheers and chants which was won by the Lavender Team. A series of fun group games for all ages followed afterwards: Human Spelling, Big Jump Rope, Pass the Hula Hoop, Patintero, Big Volleyball, Treasure Hunt for Kids. Then, the main events - basketball, volleyball, dart, table tennis, scrabble, and chess – took place at the latter part of the day.

The Tangerine Team was composed of Areas 1 and 6; while the Maroons, Areas 2, 5, and 7. Areas 4 and 8 and SCB formed the Aqua Blue Team; while Areas 3 and 9 and Friday Church Based, the Lavender.
