• God’s Faithfulness

(A personal testimony by Liezel V. Casalla)

In the beginning of my walk with God, giving and tithing were never easy subjects for me.  Sa Pinasmas madalasinconsistent ang tithing ko,maybe because I tended to magnify more onour small incomeand expenses -- dalawaganak, housing loan, school fees, daily expenses etc… -- rather than to focus on the greatness of God.

Until one day I opened up my heart to the Lord, crying and complaining like a child. Sabiko “Lord nahihirapannakosaganitongsitwasyon. Anakmoakodi baat church leader pa? PaanonaPanginoon ang patotooko kung financially lagiakongkapos?Kaya Lord, pupuntaako ng Bahrain. If it is your will, please bless me.”

The Lordheard my prayer. Nakaratingakong Bahrain with the kids andHe helped me find a job in a matter of two weeks.(Jack my husband was working in Saudi at that time.)I became an active member ofBahrain Christian Fellowship (BCF). In the courses offered by BCF which are Seminary Education by Extension (SEE) and Theological Education by Extension (TEE), I saw a better picture of a disciplinarian Father and yet a loving, forgiving, and merciful God, and this gave me a deeper sense of connection with my Savior and Lord.

In short, I finally realized that even my life is not enough compared to the kind of love He has for me.  Kung ang buhaykokulang pa, eh anobanamanyung giving and tithing.Eventually, nagingisangmaliitnabagaynalamangitosaakingpaningin atnagingmadaliangakingpagsunodsaKanya. The joy of tithing and giving has increased as my salary increases.

Later,it becamemy heart’s desire to give Him back not only my tithes but the total10% of the family income.   I shared with Jack (who was since joined us in Bahrain)the same challengethat the Lord gaveme. At first, he didn’t say anything and he remained silent about my proposal.Nevertheless, I never stopped praying for him and so I made my second attempt after few months.  In a soft tone I told him, “Jack and Liezel yungnasatithe envelop peroakolang ang nagbibigay ng tithes, sad namanako….”I almost jumped when he said, “Ikawnaman ang may hawak ng sweldoko.” Understood naokaynasakanyanaibaliknaminsaPanginoon ang 10% ng total income naming dalawa.

I didn’t expect that he would agree kasi mas malaki actually ang expenses naminpagpasok ng 2016.

Upon my husband’s approval naibaliksaDios ang dapatibalik, blessings began to flow. Just after two weeks na mag-“yes”syasa tithing,naka-receivesya ng letter of increment, after mahabangpangahonnawalasiyang salary increase. Aside from that, God secured my job amid an unpredictablework environment.

Since last year, our company has been in the process of merging with another company.  Normally in a merging scenario, termination of employees is anticipated. Everybody keeps talking about it. Every day I can feel everyone’s fear of losing a job.  But God is so good and faithful.  The new General Manager’s secretary migrated to Canada and instead of hiring a new Executive Secretary, he hired me. What a relief!

I thank God for this blessing and I acknowledge the factthat this is also an outcome of the many exercises He is teaching me in the area of giving. As Deuteronomy 15:10 says:

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

Yung blessings nakaka-relieve and nakaka-happy but above all these, what makes me more blessed is the fact that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the same God that I am worshipping right now and the same God whose promises never fail.

Give, and it will be given to you.A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38
